DEN YNGRE STENÅLDERN. eu i Irland funnen stenyxa, som är skaftad på samma sätt; och påinsidan af taket till en sten dös i Bretagne ser man af bildning afen yxa, som tydligen varit på samma sätt fästad i skaftet (fig. 44). En stenyxa, som varit skaftad såsom fig. 50, och hvars skaft framtillvarit böjdt uppåt såsom å fig. 44, är funnen i en torfmosse i Cumber-land, England.2 I en graf i Tennessee, Nordamerika, har man funnit en på sammasätt som fig. 50 skaftad yxa, men med både blad och skaft af sten,allt i ett stycke (fig. 46). Skaftet, i hvars bakre ända finnes ett hålför den rem, med hvilken yxan bars (jfr fig. 44), är 11,5 sv. tum långt;bladet har ungefär 5 tums längd.3 Andra yxor, t. ex. den fig. 47 afbildade, från Robenhausen iSchweiz, hafva med sin öfre del varit instuckna i skaftet, utan att gåigenom det.

I Schweiz och i andra europeiska länder4 hittas äfven stenyxor,som varit skaftade på annat sätt. Dessa yxor, hvilka till form ochstorlek mera likna våra smärre flintyxor (Atl. 22), äro nämligen förstinsatta i ett stycke horn, som sedan är instucket i ett hål i träskaftet (fig. 51).5 På ett liknande sätt är en i Nationalmuseum förvarad, troligen frånNya Caledonien kommen, stenyxa skaftad (fig. 53).
