English: Caption on image: Sunset at Keewalik, Alaska. Photo by F.H. Nowell, 5099 Kiwalik is a village on the northeast coast of Seward Peninsula, between Spafarief Bay and Kiwalik Lagoon. It was an Eskimo village named for the Kiwalik River. About 1890, this village became a supply point for mining activities in the Candle area. The Keewalik post office was established in 1902 and operated intermittently until 1907. In 1967, the population was 10.
