English: This contour plot shows the BOD concentration gradient along a 150 m x 30 m vertically-mixed surface water channel. The water is flowing at a velocity of 0.4 m/s in the x-direction and experiences a steady input of BOD loading of 70 g/s/m and point source loadings of 5 mg/L BOD at x = 75 m.
