The road was calling to us with promises of unknown treasures as we packed our bags and headed upwards to the hilly regions of Bedugul this morning. Coincidence is a funny thing. Sitting on the bus towards Bedugul there was a couple in front of us. They looked familiar. I couldn’t put my finger on how I recognised them. An hour later we arrived at our hotel. I popped open my laptop and on my facebook news feed there was post by Gerard and Kieu, the couple who write GQ Trippin, talking about the bad weather in Ubud. The cogs slowly began to grind in my mind as I started to figure out that they were the couple sitting in front of us. We’ve exchanged comments on each other’s blogs a few times, so it was extremely coincidental that we found ourselves on the same bus in this little part of the world. Our hotel is a meditation retreat. The lush green grounds are surrounded by trees and mediation huts. As the rolling mist crept along the peaceful setting, I asked myself what could make this place more special. Like you, I knew the answer - Ricky Martin’s Livin’ La Vida Loca. The hotel staff must be psychic because that’s exactly what they blasted from their sound system. Today's Photo - This is the street that leads you to the quayside in Newcastle. |
