STREET-LAND Street children thus reflect all that is vitalfor the time being in the life of the community. They mirror the good as well as the bad. When Peter Pan comes to town, an epidemic offlying spreads with lightning rapidity throughthe streets to the remotest blind alleys and im-agination is once more enthroned. Likethe sudden introduction of new machinery inindustry, the adjustment is painful. Yet thechildren, unlike the workers, get no sympathyat all,—perhaps because they do not strike orprotest in adult fashion. When the face of thestreet was unpaved, think what it meant tochildren in dry as well as rainy weather. With the change to asphalt mudpie-makingdisappeared from Street-Land. Th
