Summary[edit]

Description Workers for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District install straw wattles along a new American River levee section in the River Park neighborhood of Sacramento, California Nov. 18, 2014. The temporary wattles are used to help prevent stormwater runoff until a protective grass mixture takes hold along the levee's slopes. Once sprouted, the mixture is designed to help shield the slopes from future erosion. (U.S. Army photo by Todd Plain/Released)
