Text Appearing Before Image:
they had sailed on was the Mayflower—^a very pretty name for a boat, I think. But it was a sad, hard journey, and the littlecompany were nine long weeks on the way. Though it was more than a hundred yearssince Columbus had crossed the Atlantic, people had not learned to travel much faster. It took Columbus and his three little boatsseventy days to reach land; and the PilgrimFathers, as the men who came on the May-flower were called, spent sixty-three days onthe way to Massachusetts. They were verytired of the Mayflower by that time, youmay be sure, and glad enough to step out onthe solid earth again. But if they were to make the journey now, they could cross the ocean in a large, roomyboat, with a pleasant deck to walk on in thedaytime, and comfortable rooms to sleep inat night. If it were hot, a busy little fanwould do its best to keep them cool; and ifit were cold, there would be heat to make themcozy. All the way, there would be fresh, purewater to drink, plenty of good food to eat.

I will tell you one reason. The world asit now is will not last always. By and by itwill be burned up, and a new and gloriousearth will be made in its place. But beforethat happens, Jesus will come and take allthe people who love Him to be with Him inHis own beautiful home. Many people w^ould like to live in the newearth, when it is made as beautiful as it wasin the beginning; so before Jesus comes, allthe people everywhere must be told that Heis coming. Those who give their hearts toHim, and love Him, will be very happy whenHe comes, and will be ready to go with Himto His heavenly home, and to live in the newearth when it
