| Description |
English: Strand Palace Hotel, steam engine It's easy to forget that big hotels have big infrastructure and this hotel once generated appreciable quantities of DC electricity. This is a 1927 Belliss & Morcom inverted vertical triple expansion steam engine. It was rated at 430/440 brake horsepower at 350 rpm. Although long disused it is still in the powerhouse in a basement between Exeter Street and Tavistock Street. |
