Certainly not, says the Missus, with herhead up like this and her mouth turned downlike this. They cost too much. Well haveto have something else/ Then at dinner the Mister cries, Whydidnt we have pudding to-day; we alwayshave it on Tuesday! Cause no pudding raisins in the house,cry the children, sniffing again. 16

Behold, the Story Sprite! ~ ~ < L RAISIN DOLL Send for a barrel of them, orders theMister. When that gives out, get anotherat once. When I have my mouth made upfor pudding on Tuesdays I dont want to bedisappointed. Wouldnt that make a cute little puddingraisin hug herself? Another kind of raisin grows here inSmyrna; they are the small seedless kind. The Corinthian raisin currant— Boo! hoo! hoo! interrupted somebody,apparently much grieved. Whos crying like that? asked the RaisinDoll. I am, came in sobbing tones. Why? asked everybody, standing on tiptoe to see the weeping one. Hes telling my story. There isnt muchto tell about me, and if he tells it, I cant;then I wont get a gift! To be sure you wont! said the tall Stick TALE OF THE Doll. Mr. Raisin, are you going to telleverybodys story, may I ask? Why, no, said the Raisin Doll, a bitfussed over the uproar; I forgot that one ofmy cousins was present. Allow me to introduce to you the light-hearted, joyous-natured Corinthian raisin
