Summary[edit]
DescriptionStatue of Sir Titus Salt, Roberts Park, Saltaire - geograph.org.uk - 1502435.jpg |
English: Statue of Sir Titus Salt, Roberts Park, Saltaire The name of Sir Titus Salt is revered in this area and rightly so. Uniquely among millowners, he was a philanthropist and a socialist. He established the model town of Saltaire in which all the workers had decent houses and built the model 'Salts Mill' with the best workplace conditions in Yorkshire. It featured low-pollution burners, a century ahead of his time.
Depicted below Sir Titus on the plinth of the statue is an alpaca, whose wool was used in the mill. |
