Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cotton exhibit in the Australian Pavilion at the British Empire Exhibition, 1924

The Exhibition was opened by King George V on 23 April 1924.

Queensland provided 91% of the cotton in the exhibition, all of which was labelled distinctly as coming from the state. The stand, pictured, was devoted to a panorama of cotton growing and at the back, a painted scene showed a cotton field with pickers at work among the cotton bushes. The front portion was occupied by cases showing the development of cotton from the raw fibre to the finished article. Goods manufactured from Australian cotton also had a prominent place in this stand and 200 varieties of indigenous, raw, crude and natural fibres were displayed by S. H. Eaves of Brisbane.
