English: Cartoonist Jack Lusby in his RAAF Air Force uniform, ca. 1944
Viv (Jack) Lusby, was born in Ballina, New South Wales in 1913 and died in Sydney in 1981, was an Australian cartoonist and short story writer who spent most of his working life in Sydney, producing cartoons and short stories for publications such as Smith's Weekly and the Sydney Morning Herald. He worked in Brisbane for the Courier Mail from 1945 till 1947. He used the pseudonym of Freddie for some of his cartoons and stories. He has had short stories published in Coast to Coast, the Penguin book of Australian Short Stories, volume 2, and various other publications. Jack served as an RAAF pilot in the Middle East during World War II. (Description supplied with photograph). |
