Description
English: Enoggera Army Camp, ca. 1915. The military establishment at Enoggera was officially established in 1908 when the Commonwealth government acquired a parcel of land comprising some 1235 acres. Previously the land had been used by both Imperial and colonial forces for rifle-shooting and parade activities. In 1855 the land comprised four paddocks, named Bell, Fraser s, Rifle and Thompson s. A rifle range was constructed in 1908 and Australia's commitment to World War I saw the acceleration of development of the Enoggera site. The camp was used as a staging camp for tens of thousands of troops heading overseas during the first and second world wars.
