Свою назву – Синьожупанники – дивізії отримали за кольором одностроїв, що були пошиті спеціально для українських частин», «У березні 1918 року 1-а Українська (Синьожупанна) дивізія пройшла урочистим парадом по Софійській площі в Києві. Але наприкінці квітня 1918 року була розформована німцями. Згодом, у 1919 році, в армії Української Народної Республіки, у 3-й Залізній дивізії, був створений 7-й Синій полк, який продовжив традиції синьожупанників».
