English: The Paramaribo city district is located in the north between 15.80° and 5.91° N and in the
west between 55.09° and 55.23° W and bordered on the north by the Atlantic Ocean, east to the Commewijne district and west and south to the Wanica district. Paramaribo, the capital of the Republic of Suriname, is located on the left bank of the Suriname river. On the one hand, this location offers favorable factors for the settlement of port facilities because of the shipping channel in the outer bend. The district is divided into 12 administrative areas and has a total area of 183 km2. The administrative areas are: Blauwgrond, Rainville, Munderbuiten, Centrum, Beekhuizen, Weg naar Zee, Welgelegen, Tammenga, Flora, Latour, Pontbuiten, Livorno The administrative organization of the Paramaribo urban district is based on two administrative areas, namely Paramaribo North-East and Paramaribo South-West; A District Commissioner has been appointed for each of these administrative units. Deze locatie biedt enerzijds gunstige factoren voor de afwikkeling van havenfaciliteiten vanwege de vaargeul in de buitenbocht. Het district is onderverdeeld in 12 administratieve ressorten en heeft een totale oppervlakte van 183 km2. De administratieve ressorten zijn: Blauwgrond, Rainville, Munderbuiten, Centrum, Beekhuizen, Weg naar Zee, Welgelegen, Tammenga, Flora, Latour, Pontbuiten, Livorno De bestuurlijke organisatie van het stadsdistrict Paramaribo geschiedt vanuit twee bestuursressorten, te weten Paramaribo Noord-Oost en Paramaribo Zuid-West; voor elk van deze bestuurseenheden is een Districtscommissaris aangesteld.
