St Peter's Hill in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England, c. 1850

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: St Peter's Hill in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England, c. 1850. The house on the left is the site of today's Guildhall. The Great Northern Tavern, formerly called The Stingo Tavern, was demolished in 1888, and is at the corner of today's St Peter’s Hill and St Catherine’s Road. The photograph was probably taken from an upper floor of townhouses that faced south on to St Peter's Hill. St Peter's Hill was a piece of waste common that separated the town of Grantham from the village of Spitalgate to the south, on today's London Road.
