| Description | Monument to John Havet (1633-1724), Merchant, who married Ann Hastings, a daughter of Martin Hastings of Hindringham Hall, Norfolk. Hindringham Hall was built before 1562 by an earlier Martin Hastings, a courtier in the service of Henry FitzRoy, Duke of Richmond and Somerset, the illegitimate son of Henry VIII by his mistress Elizabeth Blount. A lease written in 1562 refers to the house 'now being builded and edified'. Arms (clearer view see[1]): Vert, on a fess or between three fish-hooks argent three fleurs-de-lis sable (Havet, not listed in Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884) impaling: Argent, a maunch sable (Hastings) |
