Summary
[edit]DescriptionSt Andrew's Church - geograph.org.uk - 1247947.jpg |
English: St Andrew's Church Aysgarth parish church is plenty big enough to accommodate everyone in the village and with space left over. This large parish church is largely an 1866 rebuild of a 14th century church, stonework from which can be seen around the lower parts of the nave and tower.
Aysgarth was once the largest parish in England - some 33000 hectares in extent - thus the size and importance of the church, which served all the people of upper Wensleydale. |
