English: Interior of St Peter's Church in the parish of Bittadon, Devon. At near left, mural monument to Edward Pointz (d.1691), showing above the arms of Poyntz of Devon: Barry of ten or and azure, a difference of the arms of the senior family of Poyntz of Iron Acton in Gloucestershire, feudal barons of Curry Mallet in Somerset (Barry of eight or and gules). Above is the canting crest of Poyntz: A hand clenched,[1] from the French poigne, "fist".[2] In the distance at left is the mural monument to a member of the Acland family.
