Original caption:

THE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING.

The Administration Building is one fot he few structures that were intended to remain after the glories of the exposition had vanished, as a permanent building for the use of the Washington University. In keeping with its sober, dignified destination in the service of science and education, its architecture presents a plain front, very much in contrast with the rich decorations of the other less substantially constructed Exposition buildings. It shows the Tudor style. The material is a red granite, trimmed with Bedford limestone. The building is fireproof and has all the latest devices and conveniences desirable for its purpose. During the Exposition fifty large offices for the use of Exposition officials, directors and commissioners, were fitteed up and handsomely furnished in this palace, which measures 325 by 113 feet and cost $250,000 to erect.
