Description
English: The Sint-Jacobskerk (Church of Saint James) is known because Peter Paul Rubens is entombed here. The church was designed by Domenicus de Waghemakere and Rombout Keldermans. They had the largest church in the known world in mind, but the project was never finalized.
Nederlands: De Sint-Jacobskerk te Antwerpen is vooral bekend wegens het graf van de kunstschilder Peter Paul Rubens. De kerk is toegewijd aan de apostel Sint-Jacobus de Meerdere. Ze is ontworpen door Domenicus de Waghemakere en Rombout Keldermans. Het was de bedoeling dat deze kerk de grootste gotische kerk ter wereld zou worden. De kerk werd echter slechts gedeeltelijk gerealiseerd. De proporties van het bestaande gedeelte geven een idee hoe groots de kerk zou zijn geworden indien volledig voltooid.
