Description
Deutsch: Sprockhövel, Gevelsberger Str..1 a, leicht nach Westen versetzt steht vor der Turmfront der evangelischen Kirche Haßlinghausen ein Obelisk, der als Kriegerdenkmal an die 16 Gefallenen und Vermissten des französisch-preußischen Krieges 1870/71 aus Haßlinghausen und Hiddinghausen erinnert. Auf zwei gegenüberliegenden Seiten des zwischen Obelisk und Sockel eingefügten Schafts, der die Namen der Verstorbenen trägt, sind bronzene Medaillons mit je einem Pofilbildnis des preußischen Königs und seines ältesten Sohnes, des Kronprinzen angebracht. Hier das Konterfei Wilhelms I. von Preußen, der nach siegreicher Beendigung des Krieges noch in Frankreich zum Kaiser des neugegründeten Deutschen Reichs proklamiert wurde.
