s THE STORRS & HARRISON CO.'S CATALOGUE CABBAGE. The ground must be highly manured, deeply dug or plowed and thoroughly worked to insure good, full-sized heads. A heavy, moist and fresh loam is the most suitable. Sow early in the spring in hot- bed, or later in open ground. Plant out 18 inches by two feet apart. The late va- rieties are usually sown by the middle of May and the plants set out in July, in rows three feet apart, and two feet apart in the rows. One ounce will produce 3,000 plants; of seed in beds enough to transplant for an acre. Selected Early Jersey Wakefield. The Early Wakefield is the standard earlv cabbage in all the northern markets, a larger acreage of it being planted than of all the other early sorts combined. It is the hardiest and hardest heading of the extra early sorts, and most north- ern gardeners depend upon it for the bulk of their first crop. Pkt. 5c, oz. 20c, #lb. 60c, lb. $2.00.

Charleston or Large Wakefield. A very popular vari- ety with market gardeners in the south. It is •about a week later than Early Jersey Wakefield, but the heads are nearly one-half larger; does not 'burst when ripe, like most early sorts, and can be left standing in the field some time without dam- age. Pkt. oc, oz. 20c, 60c, lb. $2.00.
