English: Illustration 3 : Mittel - Conjunction from the book "Cabala: Spiegel der Kunst und Natur in Alchymia" or "Reflections on Art & Nature in Alchemy" 1663 by Steffan Michelspacher & Raphael Custos. https://archive.org/details/cabalaspiegelder00cust/page/n39/mode/2up

The illustration depicts aspects of chemistry or alchemy. On the outer edges are the elements of fire, air, land & water. The border shows the zodiac. The centre hill shows different classes of people with the apex being a statue of Mercury. This is underpinned by a temple of day & night with the steps describing chemical processes of tincture, coagulation, distillation, putrefaction, solution, sublimation, calcination (7 steps to the Philosopher's Stone).
