Notes Pair of spectacles in case, issued for ordinary use and with gas mask, WW2; issued to Driver N.H. Field 602676 Driver Noel Harry Field (of Paekakariki) served during WW2, service no 602676, as a driver, mainly in North Africa - Egypt. Note- Printed case label notes that spectacle frame designed for ordinary use and for use with gas mask "This spectacle frame is designed for ordinary use and use when wearing a gas mask. When the gas mask is fitted, the spectacle temple sides are adjusted to the correct setting for the wearer's face. Care must be taken to keep the temple sides at the correct setting. otherwise gas may leak in when gas mask is worn. If in doubt as to the fitting of the spectacles, this matter should be reported to the medical officer." Handwritten label with owner's name in pencil- "602676 - DVR FIELD N.H."
