Description
English: This document contains special orders for several surgeons, including Dr. Esther E. Leonard, to travel to Souilly, France. Dr. Leonard served as a contract surgeon during World War I at the U.S. Army General Hospital No. 1 in New York City and at an evacuation hospital in Vichy, France.



Transcription:

HEADQUARTERS BASE HOSPITAL NO. 15, AEF Casual Bureau September 26, 1918. 1st. Series Special Orders No. 12 3. In Pursuant to instructions from GHQ dated [September] 26, 1918, Operating Team No. 158, headed by Major Ingraham is hereby directed to proceed to Souilly, reporting upon arrival Lieutenant Colonel Garcia, for temporary duty at Mobile Hospital Number 6. Major C.B. Ingraham, MC Capt. Thos. W. Holmes, MC Dr. E.E. Leonard (Female Anaesthetist) PFC Henry L. Thole MD PFC Joseph A Jaffe MD The R.T.C. will furnish the above named enlisted-men the necessary transportation for the jouney. The Quartermaster Corps will pay the above name enlisted-men commutation of rations at the prescribed rate for the necessary number of days travel: it being impracticable for them to carry rations in kind.
