Description
English: Presumed portrait of Maria Carolina of Austria (1752-1814), misidentified with her mother-in-law Maria Amalia of Saxony (1724-1760).
  • Identification proposed by user Ecummenic (talk) on March 2019, based on the comparison with some portraits of Carolina (see images below) and the lack of physical resemblance of the sitter of this portrait to verified representations of Amalia. Furthermore, the identification as Amalia of Saxony is not sustainable since an analysis of fashion dates the work around 1775, when she died in 1760.
