Summary[edit]

Description A Soviet Admiral Zozulya-class cruiser (project 1134 "Berkut", NATO reporting code "Kresta-I"), probably Vladivostok, in the Mediterranean Sea. The photo was taken from the deck of the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CVA-67). In the foreground are two McDonnell F-4B Phantom II from Fighter Squadron 14 (VF-14) "Top Hatters" and VF-32 "Swordsmen". Both squadrons were assigned to Carrier Air Wing 1 (CVW-1) aboard the John F. Kennedy for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 5 April to 21 December 1969.
