Summary[edit]

Description Postcard photo of what was once the largest locomotive in the world, owned by Southern Pacific. The SP number is 4000-this is a Baldwin, as their round plate can be seen on the locomotive's left side. This is the MC-1 before it was converted to cab forward in the early 1920s.
Date Not mailed and no other dating. SP received the locomotive in 1909 and by the early 1920s it had been altered to become a cab forward locomotive. Believe this is circa 1909-1910.
