Description
English: Central medallion of a mosaic depicting Achilles. Achilles is hidden in the King's daughter's apartments in Skyros. The sight of weapons and the sound of trumpets awoke his warrior instinct, allowing Ulysses to discover him.

Français : Fresque ornant le cubiculum (chambre) de la maison dite "Maison d'Achille" à Thysdrus (actuellement El Jem). La fresque date du milieu du IIIe siècle. Médaillon central d'une mosaïque représentant Achille. Achille est caché dans les appartements de la fille du roi à Scyros, où sa mère Thétis l'a envoyé de peur qu'il ne parte pour la guerre de Troie et n'y meure. Achille a été déguisé en femme. Les émissaires de l'armée achéenne venus le chercher mettent en place une ruse : ils placent des armes bien en vue au milieu d'un tas de bijoux, puis font sonner l'alarme. La vue des armes et le son des trompettes réveillent l'instinct guerrier d'Achille, ce qui permet à Ulysse de le découvrir.
