Description

USS Siboney (ID # 2999)

Soldiers boarding the ship at the American Bassens on the Gironde River, France, for their passage home, 20 February 1919. Red Cross workers are assisting the troops at the foot of the gangway. Photographed by Machinist John G. Krieger, USN. Note the wet conditions, and the tent and hut sheltering the Red Cross workers, at least one of whom is a woman.
