Instructions for the use of of WW2 era (SOE) self jointing solder sleeves.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Self-soldering sleeves, developed during WW2 and intended for use in joining wire for repair, demolition and other covert operations.

Instructions read:

  1. Remove insulation at least 1/4-in. more than half length of sleeve.
  2. Scrape each separate wire clean with knife.
  3. Insert conductors into copper sleeve as far as they will go.
  4. Hold sleeve add draw side of striker across red patch.
  5. When solder softens, press conductors into sleeve continuing to wriggle and press until conductors overlap the full half inch.
  6. Hold steady and maintain pressure until cool.
  7. Remove burnt composition with pliers.
  8. Insulate joint.
Cleanliness is essential - if possible do not touch wires after scraping.
