Italiano: Una campana C con foro superiore è posta su di una superficie con scanalatura a chiusura ermetica a mercurio. Al suo interno vi è un cristallizzatore D con una quantità nota di soluzione di un acido non volatile. Sopra un treppiede vi è una capsula E con una piccola quantità di concime o sale ammoniacale. La campana viene posta sotto vuoto tramite un rubinetto F. Quando la campana è sotto vuoto, si fa gocciolare nella capsula una soluzione di idrossido di potassio KOH da una pipetta H, G. Si lascia il tutto a riposare per 24 h affinché la decomposizione abbia luogo e l'ammoniaca liberata venga assorbita dalla soluzione acida. Infine, la soluzione viene titolata per ricavare l'ammoniaca assorbita.
English: A glass bell C with a top aperture is placed on a surface with a groove that allows an ermetic seal, possibly under mercury. Inside is a dish D with a known amount of a non-volatile acid solution, and above it a capsule E with a small amount of an ammoniacal salt or a fertiliser. The bell is evacuated via F, and a solution of potassium hydroxide KOH is added dropwise to the capsule via a pipette G, H. The system is allowed to react for 24 h until all the ammonia is released by the sample and absorbed by the acid solution, which is then titrated. |
