Posed photograph. Left to right: George Archer, Asa Thurston Hayden (on ground), Clarence Kinsey. Hayden was an artist whose sketches were well known in the Klondike and appeared in publications such as the Dawson Daily News. Part of series: Going down the shaft; Overcome by gas, the rescue; Overcome by gas, the resucitation. See Meed 68 and 69. PH Coll 246.70. Also in PH Coll 731.17 [Meed journal: "Overcome by gas - The resucitation. Some of the underground working contained frozen remains of vegetation. When thawed this emitted a noxious gas and treatment was necessary for one so affected. The long hair and beard on one of the men is an example of the custom of some desiring to be distinguished as "Sourdoughs" (old-timers) from "Cheechacoes" (New-comers)."]. Klondike Gold Rush.
