Description This 25 gram iron meteorite is from the witnessed fall of 1947 that occured in the Sikhote -Alin mountains of Russia. This is the largest and most celebrated iron meteorite fall of the 20th century. The individuals are frequently covered in deep regmaglypts caused by ablation during flight through the atmosphere. These are also known as "thumb prints". Other pieces of Sikhote resemble shrapnel from a bomb and these are pieces that were ripped from the main mass after it exploded.
