Deutsch: Siegel der Stadt Emmerich am Rhein:"Hinter einer zinnenbekrönten Stadtmauer erheben sich drei runde Festungstürme. Der breitere Mittelturm ist bis in halbe Höhe als zinnenbekrönter Rundturm ausgeführt, geht dann im oberen Teil aber in einen schlankeren viereckigen Turm über, der mit einer nach allen Seiten vorkragenden Brüstung und einer gefälteten Haube abschließt. Die niedrigeren Seitentürme tragen ebenfalls Faltdächer. Über ihnen, beiderseits des Mittelturms, befinden sich zwei linksschräg angeordnete Wappenschilde, die jeweils stehenden gehenkelten Eimer zeigen. Die Umschrift lautet: "+SIGILLUI:BVRGENTIU:IN:EMBRICA"; wobei das letzte "I" von SIGILLUI verrutscht ist."
In Emmerich stehen Wappen und Siegel nebeneinander. Die Umschrift bedeutet "Siegel der Bürger in Emmerich". Ein Wappenbrief ist nicht nachgewiesen. Es ist selten, dass Wappen und Siegel einer Stadt unterschiedlich sind. |
