[edit]DescriptionShrawder-Settig House.jpg |
English: MCHA members Pete and Linda Sauvigne whose Shrawder-Settig House just became Monroe County's newest listing on the National Register of Historic Places - NPS. The c.1810 stone and c. 1815 Federal frame plank house were build by Captain Shrawder on land formerly owned by Nicholas DePue (DePuy), who established a grist mill on the site in the 1730's. In 1941, prominent antique dealers Edgar and Charlotte Sittig purchased the property, adding a 4 foot wide frame connector between the buildings and updating the home with extensive Colonial Revival renovations. The distinctive characteristics of both the original construction and the 1940's renovations were recognized by the National Register in determining the Shrawder-Sittig House to be of architectural significance. #MonroeHistoryPA Smithfield Township PA
