b>Model - Shelby Year Taken - May 2013 Camera - Nikon D800E Lens - Nikon 85mm f/1.4G Location - Studio Shelby As Ive mentioned before, the best portraits come when the model is not posing and not aware of the camera. Personally, I use the time between poses to look for opportunities to take something more candid, as no matter how good a model is, they cannot do this when asked. Emotion comes out when the photos is spontaneous and unprepared, people let their guard down, and you capture something a little deeper than just aesthetics. Ok, some models come pre-Photoshopped, Shelby comes pre-Photoshopped, Lightroomed, OnOned and she probably has an inbuilt plugin for whichever editing program you favour. She has that "model" look that "models" seldom have. So you engage in a shoot where you end up constantly moving, checking your camera, fiddling with the lighting, looking for help from your fellow photographer (none comes back) because you are getting great photo after great photo and something seems wrong. She is 20 years old, but she holds herself like a film star, with a look that is so contextual in front of the camera as if she is advertising perfume or something. She is a great laugh, funny as hell but able to move into serious mode in an instant. We got some great photos and I hope you like them as much as I do. |
