| Description |
English: Shardlow Lock and cottage, Derbyshire. Lock No 2 on the Trent and Mersey Canal. The first six locks are wide, allowing two narrowboats to fit side by side. Some are very deep, but not this one. The narrowboat in the chamber here is already visible despite the lock being empty. When the bottom gates are closed, water will be let in from the top which will raise the level by only 4ft 5in (1.35 metres). |
