  • In the 1905 Memorial Exhibition catalogue, Pennell stated this was a study for the full length self-portrait exhibited at the Exposition Universelle in Paris, 1900; in 1908 Pennell stated this was a study for "Brown and Gold," (National Gallery of Art, Washington), ca. 1896-1898.
