English: February 26: The Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University, Brig. (Retd.) S. Ahmad Ali today felicitated Sehba Zaidi of Class X with Papa Mian Padma Bhushan Award and Rida Fatima, a student of Class IX with M. J. Haider Award on the occasion of the annual Prize Distribution Function of the AMU Girls' High School.
Ms. Asra Ansari has been awarded the Dharampur Merit Scholarship of Rs. Fifty Thousand for securing 85% marks in the High School examination. Begum Sabra Shah was awarded to Ms. Bushra Waseem, a student of Class X fo securing highest marks in Class IX board examination. Addressing the Annual Prize Distribution function of the AMU Girls' High School, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali said that the AMU maintained schools are the feeder institutions to the University. He urged the school teachers to groom up the future generation in a manner that they achieve excellence in higher studies. He further said that school is the foundation of the future building of the students and school teachers are on the threshold to inculcate new ideas in them. He congratulated the prize winners and hoped that this school would produce eminent personalities like Kalpana Chawla, Lata Mangeshkar and PT Usha. He assured the school administration that infrastructure facilities will be enhanced and all the ad hoc and part time teachers will be regularized. Group Captain (Retd.) Shahrukh Shamshad, Registrar and Mr. Vivek Bansal, MLC also graced the function as guests of honour. Earlier, in her welcome address. Mrs. Amna Malik, Principal of the school highlighted the achievements made by the school. She said that AMU Girls' High School students have bagged eight positions in the top ten from amongst the AMU schools. The first position went to Ms. Tanisha Gupta who secured 93.20% and the second position was bagged by Ms. Shubhi Pathak who secured 92.40% marks. Mrs. Malik said that school is also proud of Ms. Ibra Khalid of Class X, a gifted singer, who made way to the semi-finals of a popular TV programme, India's Got Talent Season 4, telecast by Colors Channel recently. Mrs. Amna Malik stated that the wind of change in school education are blowing very fast. India is on the threshold of a knowledge revolution. She urged the University authorities to lend support for the modernization of existing classrooms and creation of Smart Classrooms, construction of an auditorium for school functions and extension of conveyance facilities to school students. On this occasion, Mr. Vivekl Bansal, MLC, Prof. Bilquis Nasim Waris, Principal, Women's College, Prof. Tariq Mansoor, Secretary University Games Committee, Mrs. Naghma Irfan, Principal, Sr. Secondary School (Girls) and Mr. Faisal Nafees, Principal, S. T. S. High School gave away prizes to the winners. Ms. Ibra Khalid presented a patriotic song on this occasion. Hana Khan, a student of Class X proposed a vote of thanks. Ms. Farkhunda Sofi conducted the programme. Ms. Aisha Sadaf of Class X presented a welcome poem and dedicated to the Pro-Vice Chancellor. |
