Title
English: Second Hill, Seattle.
Description
English: Section of 2-part panorama: Curtis 04039, 04039-1. Madison St. at far upper right. Looking east from the Broadway Building, NE corner of Broadway and Madison.
  • Subjects (LCTGM): Dwellings--Washington (State)--Seattle; Cities & towns--Washington (State)
  • Subjects (LCSH): Seattle (Wash.)

The name "Second Hill" fell almost completely out of use by the mid-20th Century. There is no terribly common name for this hill any more, but "Cherry Hill" is probably the most used. Furthermore, nowadays people refer to "First Hill" at least as far west as Twelfth Avenue, and many people would use it clear to Fourteenth (or even a bit beyond), and beginning anywhere north of Madison (especially when also north of Union) are likely just to consider this "Capitol Hill". So really most of what is shown here would be characterized today as part of "Capitol Hill" (although the rightmost part could be called part of "First Hill"); only the most distant part of what is shown here is likely to be referred to today even as "Cherry Hill", and that part is more likely just to be characterized as "Capitol Hill" or (beyond 15th or so) the "Central District".

Although the University of Washington library describes this and File:Second Hill, Seattle (CURTIS 189).jpeg as constituting a panorama, they really don't quite meet up. One or the other must have been cropped, because a panorama exists.
