Summary

[edit]
Description
English: "Kroll's Standard Map of Seattle", "Published by Kroll Map Co, Mehlhorn Bldg, Seattle. Copyright 1914."

Inside of "Seattle Map and Tourist Guide"

Dark lines are streetcars, cable cars, and interurbans.

This map is very small, only about 10 inches by 14 inches. The text is unbelievably tiny, and could only be read with a sharp eye or magnifying glass.

This is folded on the inside of the guide. On the outside is a description of Seattle's surrounding natural bounty, attractions within walking distance of town and those that require streetcar, interurban, boat, rail, or automobile. A section is devoted to boulevards, then Alaska, and finally a complete section on "Light Rainfall in Seattle", attempting to dispel myths:

"The rainfall of Seattle is many inches less than that of a large number of Eastern and Middle Western cities. It has averaged of the last twenty-three years 34.62 inches."

Comparative rainfall for New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and other cities is listed to cap off the guide.
