Description

The Sunset is a couple of doors down from its current location. Item 179234, Historic Building Survey Photograph Collection (Record Series 1629-01), Seattle Municipal Archives. Seattle Municipal Archives changed its URL scheme circa 2022; the older URLs beginning with "clerk" are deprecated, and will eventually fail. English: Sunset Tavern and Ballard Smoke Shop, Ballard Avenue, Ballard, Seattle, Washington, circa 1975. The Sunset is a couple of doors down from its current location. Upstairs from the Ballard Smoke Shop in this photo is the Princess Hotel (then a workingmen's hotel; now, in 2017, apartments the building dates from 1905, and was originally the St. Paul Hotel). The Ember Room was the bar of the Smoke Shop restaurant; that's still there, but the rest of the Smoke Shop is now (2017) in the space formerly occupied by the Sunset (south rather than north of the Ember Room).
