DescriptionSeattle - Green Lake Park development plan, 1925.jpg |
English: "Proposed Plan for Development of Green Lake", Seattle, Washington, 1925. Flickr user "seattler0cks" remarks, "It's always fun to take a look at these old maps... Aurora then is Linden Ave N today, the naming revised after Aurora was shoved through in the early thirties... [that is, when the high bridge—officially the George Washington Memorial Bridge, but commonly known as the Aurora Bridge—was built]. You can see the rail line that ran ran up Stone Way and then east on its way around the lake: down today's Winona Ave N, crossing Aurora, before heading south down Linden. It ran just east of today's Aurora thru lower Woodland Park before veering down to Woodland Park Ave N. (shown in the map). The west side of a stone trestle still remains near N. 59th St, though very people know what it is... or about the trolley that used to chug around (or nearly around, early on) Green Lake beginning in the early 1890s."
