[edit]DescriptionSeattle, looking north on Third from between University and Union, circa 1970s.jpg |
Item 175096, City Light Slides (Record Series 1204-04), Seattle Municipal Archives. Seattle Municipal Archives changed its URL scheme circa 2022; the older URLs beginning with "clerk" are deprecated, and will eventually fail. The following search should find item number 175096 in their new database:
http://archives.seattle.gov/digital-collections/index.php/Search/objects/search/num%253A175096+AND+ca_objects.type_id%253A23 .
English: Looking north on Third Avenue, Seattle, Washington, U.S., from between University and Union Streets, circa 1970s. Taken with quite a strong telephoto lens: the Securities Building in the background is about 5 blocks from the camera, which is probably pretty close to University Street. The Woolworth at right is at the corner of Third and Pike. This photo also from the municipal archive must be moments later: note the woman in the red coat, whose bus has now arrived. It shows that the buses, although still in old Seattle Transit livery, have been switched over to METRO. |
