Summary[edit]

Description
English: Kids playing the Octopus game (Il Gioco del Polpo) in Monterosso (Cinque Terre (SP), Italy). This board game has been created by INGV (Dr. Marina Locritani), Valentina Sgherri and graphic designer Matteo Sgherri. It has been partly financed by the European Commission's Research and Innovation Framework Programme H2020 (2014-2020) - Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions. Directorate-General for Education and Culture. European Commission under Grant Agreement No. 633306 (European Researchers' Night 2014-2015).
English: Education, Awareness and Dissemination of Scientific Results and Issues must be made through simple and appealing means of communication that must reach all society levels and age groups: from children to the elderly. Learning processes can be enhanced in an unusual context like a game. A popular game has been built up and customized by INGV (Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia - the Italian Research Centre for Geophysics and Vulcanology): il Gioco del Polpo (the Octopus game).
This board game has been realised in a giant version, in order to give the opportunity to children to feel more involved during the activity and better visualise the drawings without losing attention. The game consists in a round track with 20 consecutively numbered spaces and a list of questions on Marine Biology and Geology.
