Summary[edit]
DescriptionSchwetzingen - Schlossgarten - Moschee - Ansicht über den Moscheeweiher im Herbst 1.jpg |
English: Autumn view of the Red mosque in the gardens of Schwetzingen Palace, Germany. This listed building, constructed in 1779–1795 by Nicolas de Pigage as the first mosque-style building in Germany, was never a real Muslim mosque but was supposed to express the tolerance of the Enlightenment towards all religions.
The photograph includes the so-called Moscheeweiher in front of the building, because the mosque was deliberately planned by de Pigage as a component of the park, and so I consider this as the view intended by de Pigage.
Magyar: A schwetzingeni kastélykert mecsetjének látképe. 1779 és 1796 között (a felvilágosodás idején) épült. Az épületet nem imahelyként emelték, inkább a más vallások iránti tolerancia új felfogását kívánta megtestesíteni (Schwetzingen, Baden-Württemberg, Németország)
