Summary[edit]

Description Fig. 2. — A large part of the sclerotome is induced depending on Shh signaling from the notochord and floor plate. Shh also competes with Wnt, which induces the dermomyotome and maintains the epithelial state in somites. The notochord also produces Noggin, which inhibits BMP signaling and supports sclerotome induction63. nt neural tube, n notochord, ao dorsal aorta, DM dermomyotome, M myotome, IM intermediate mesoderm, LPM lateral plate mesoderm.
