Summary[edit]

Description
English: Schematic representation of peatland structure and function in the implementation described in this paper. Dynamic peat layers deposit above the static mineral soil layers (0.5  +  1.5 m). In the shallow peat, plant roots are present in both mineral and peat layers. Once the peat becomes sufficiently thick (2 m), all roots are confined to the peat layers.
